Chapter 1

Pre-Season
Pre-Season
September 12, 2017 – October 24, 2017
This is where it all began, a stripped-down version of the game with no Battle Pass, no item shop progression, and a map full of copy-paste towns. It is remembered mostly as the rough but charming foundation that turned Fortnite into a phenomenon.

Season 1
First Steps
October 24, 2017 – December 14, 2017
The first proper season, still very barebones but it introduced the Item Shop, Limited Time Modes, and the first Fortnitemares Halloween event. The Battle Pass did not exist yet at the start, so this season is mostly about the game finding its feet.

Season 2
Fort Knights
December 14, 2017 – February 22, 2018
The medieval, knights-themed season that introduced the iconic paid Battle Pass system and daily challenges. It gave us classic skins like the Black Knight and is where cosmetic collecting really took off.

Season 3
Meteor Strike
February 22, 2018 – May 1, 2018
A space-themed season best known for the ominous comet teased in the sky, which kicked off Fortnite's whole approach to environmental storytelling. Players spent weeks speculating about where the meteor would land.

Season 4
Brace For Impact
May 1, 2018 – July 11, 2018
The superhero season where the meteor finally hit, wiping out Dusty Depot and turning it into Dusty Divot. It ended with the Rocket Launch on June 30, 2018, the first-ever live event in Battle Royale, which cracked the sky open and set up the next season.

Season 5
Worlds Collide
July 11, 2018 – September 27, 2018
Rifts tore across the map and pulled in objects and locations from other times and places, adding the Paradise Palms desert biome. This is also when Kevin the Cube first appeared, slowly rolling around the island before sinking into Loot Lake.

Season 6
Darkness Rises
September 27, 2018 – December 6, 2018
A dark, Halloween-flavored season where Kevin the Cube rose from Loot Lake and lifted a haunted Floating Island that drifted around the map. It introduced pets as Battle Pass cosmetics and ended with the Butterfly Event, a quiet, surreal moment where the Cube exploded and players were briefly transported to another dimension.

Season 7
You Better Watch Out
December 6, 2018 – February 28, 2019
The winter season that blanketed the southwest of the map in snow and added the controversial X-4 Stormwing planes. It also launched Fortnite Creative, the build-anything mode that became a permanent pillar of the game, plus the Ice King and Polar Peak storyline.

Season 8
X Marks The Spot
February 28, 2019 – May 9, 2019
A pirate and treasure-hunting season built around a new volcano and the Lazy Lagoon pirate ship. It added the Reboot Van, letting you bring back eliminated teammates, and ended with The Unvaulting event where players voted to bring back a single weapon.

Season 9
The Future Is Yours
May 9, 2019 – August 1, 2019
A bright, futuristic season that rebuilt Tilted Towers and Retail Row as Neo Tilted and Mega Mall after the volcano destroyed them. It ended with The Final Showdown on July 20, 2019, the giant mecha-versus-monster battle where Mecha Team Leader fought the Devourer that rose from Polar Peak.

Season X
Out Of Time
August 1, 2019 – October 13, 2019
The chaotic time-travel finale of Chapter 1, bringing back old locations like Dusty Depot and adding the overpowered B.R.U.T.E. mechs that divided the community. It closed with The End on October 13, 2019, where the map was swallowed by a black hole that took the game completely offline for 36 hours (Oct 13–15) before Chapter 2 launched.
Chapter 2

Season 1
Drop Into A New World
October 15, 2019 – February 20, 2020
After the black hole, Fortnite returned with a brand-new island, fresh art, swimming, fishing, and boats, basically a soft reboot of the whole game. At 127 days it remains the longest season in Fortnite history, partly because Epic barely updated it the whole time.

Season 2
Top Secret
February 20, 2020 – June 17, 2020
A spy-themed season with rival factions GHOST and SHADOW, henchmen, and bosses who dropped Mythic weapons, headlined by the debut of Midas. It hosted Travis Scott's "Astronomical" concert, which drew a then-record 12.3 million concurrent players on April 24, 2020, and ended with The Device event, which flooded the island.

Season 3
Splashdown!
June 17, 2020 – August 27, 2020
The season where the map was underwater, forcing players to navigate by boat and swim through flooded points of interest. As the water receded, cars finally arrived as a proper vehicle, and Aquaman tied into the aquatic theme.

Season 4
Nexus War
August 27, 2020 – December 2, 2020
Fortnite's first big crossover season, a full Marvel takeover with Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Doctor Doom, plus Mythic superpowers scattered across the map. It ended with the Galactus event on December 1, 2020, which set Fortnite's concurrent record at the time with 15.3 million players joining the fight against the planet-eater.

Season 5
Zero Point
December 2, 2020 – March 16, 2021
A bounty-hunter season built around the exposed Zero Point, with a desert biome and characters from across realities, headlined by The Mandalorian in the Battle Pass. This is when Fortnite leaned hard into crossovers, mixing in Kratos and Master Chief.

Season 6
Primal
March 16, 2021 – June 8, 2021
A wild, prehistoric season that added crafting, tamable animals, and a primal jungle at the center of the map after Agent Jones sealed the Zero Point. Bows and makeshift weapons defined the meta, a big departure from normal Fortnite loadouts.

Season 7
Invasion
June 8, 2021 – September 13, 2021
An alien invasion season with UFOs, abductions, and a giant Mothership hovering over the island. It featured the Ariana Grande "Rift Tour" concert in August and ended with Operation: Sky Fire, where players stormed the Mothership before it was destroyed.

Season 8
Cubed
September 13, 2021 – December 5, 2021
The final season of Chapter 2, where the purple Cubes returned and spread the "Sideways" corruption zones full of monsters. It ended with The End on December 4, 2021, the chapter finale against the Cube Queen that flipped the entire island over.
Chapter 3

Season 1
Flipped
December 5, 2021 – March 20, 2022
A whole new island flipped into view, along with sliding, mantling, and tents, and the friendly dino creature Klombo became a fan favorite. It is fondly remembered for the Spider-Man crossover and Web-Slingers, launched alongside Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Season 2
Resistance
March 20, 2022 – June 5, 2022
A war-themed season between The Seven and the Imagined Order, complete with tanks and built-up frontline bases. Building was temporarily disabled in the storyline, which introduced Zero Build, a no-building mode so popular it became permanent.

Season 3
Vibin'
June 5, 2022 – September 18, 2022
A laid-back summer party season with rollercoasters, the Reality Tree, and a generally chill tone after the war ended. It is remembered as a relaxed, colorful breather between the more intense story seasons.

Season 4
Paradise
September 18, 2022 – December 4, 2022
The season where Chrome, a liquid silver substance controlled by The Herald, spread across the island and let players turn into a goo form to phase through walls. It marked the start of the shorter, single-year chapters and a growing wave of nostalgia for older maps.
Chapter 4

Season 1
A New Beginning
December 4, 2022 – March 10, 2023
A fresh island built on Unreal Engine 5 with much better visuals, dirt bikes, and the new Reality Augments perk system. The standout collab was The Witcher's Geralt, alongside a medieval citadel theme.

Season 2
MEGA
March 10, 2023 – June 9, 2023
A neon cyberpunk season anchored by Mega City, a sprawling neo-Tokyo district that became an instant favorite. It added grind rails and the Kinetic Blade sword for fast, flashy movement.

Season 3
WILDS
June 9, 2023 – August 25, 2023
A jungle-themed season with overgrown ruins, rideable raptors, and an ancient temple biome. The Transformers crossover and a dense new jungle gave it a distinct adventure feel.

Season 4
LAST RESORT
August 25, 2023 – November 3, 2023
A heist-themed season centered on the vampire villain Kado Thorne and breaking into vaults to steal his treasures. It leaned into a slick crime-caper tone with grappling and stealth.

Season OG
Fortnite: OG
November 3, 2023 – December 3, 2023
A one-month nostalgia event that brought back the original Chapter 1 island and rotated through its classic loot pools week by week. It was a huge success, hitting a single-day record of 44.7 million players on November 4, 2023, proving how strong nostalgia for old Fortnite was.
Chapter 5

Season 1
Underground
December 3, 2023 – March 8, 2024
A brand-new chapter and island with weapon mods, wall-climbing, a train, and rebuilt movement and visuals. It launched the bigger Fortnite ecosystem alongside LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing, and ended with the Eminem-headlined "Big Bang" event.

Season 2
Myths & Mortals
March 8, 2024 – May 24, 2024
A Greek mythology season where Mount Olympus and the Underworld came to the island after Pandora's Box opened. It featured gods like Zeus, Hades, and Medusa, with themed Mythic weapons and a dash mechanic.

Season 3
Wrecked
May 24, 2024 – August 16, 2024
A Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic wasteland season built around Nitro-powered vehicles, car combat, and the raider boss Megalo Don. Car-focused chaos and Nitro Fists defined the meta.

Season 4
Absolute Doom
August 16, 2024 – November 2, 2024
A Marvel season centered on Doctor Doom seizing Pandora's Box and building his Kingdom of Doom, the last season on the Helios island. It pulled in X-Men and Avengers reinforcements and ended with the Absolute Doom battle against the mad doctor.

Season 5
Chapter 2 Remix
November 2, 2024 – December 1, 2024
A month-long throwback mini-season that brought back a remixed Chapter 2 island with a hip-hop twist. Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD took over key locations and headlined "Remix: The Finale," which set Fortnite's all-time concurrent peak of 14.3 million players.
Chapter 6

Season 1
鬼HUNTERS
December 1, 2024 – February 21, 2025
A brand-new chapter set on Oninoshima, a Japanese-themed island built around yokai, demon hunters, and folklore, with Godzilla as a boss. It added new movement like ledge jumping and wall kicking, plus collectible Sprites and magical masks.

Season 2
Lawless
February 21, 2025 – May 2, 2025
A crime-and-heist season where gold transformed part of the map into golden hills, run by new villain Fletcher Kane with Midas returning. Players robbed vaults and Black Markets to collect Dill Bits and buy powerful Exotic and Mythic weapons.

Mini Season 1
Galactic Battle
May 2, 2025 – June 7, 2025
A Star Wars mini-season where the Death Star arrived over the island and the Galactic Empire fought the Resistance. It added lightsabers, blasters, and Force abilities, and ended with players sabotaging the Death Star.

Season 3
Super
June 7, 2025 – August 7, 2025
A superhero season with hero ranks, utopia-versus-demons storytelling, and Superman as the headline character. Notably, it was the first season outside Chapter 1 with a loot pool entirely free of weapons from previous chapters.

Season 4
Shock 'N Awesome
August 7, 2025 – November 1, 2025
A bug-invasion season where O.X.R. military forces, Power Rangers, and Halo Spartans fought swarms across new locations. It is widely seen as one of the least popular seasons, with reports of the lowest player counts since the figures went public, and the bug theme was largely swapped for Halloween collabs midway through.

Mini Season 2
Fortnite | The Simpsons
November 1, 2025 – November 29, 2025
A four-week Simpsons crossover that transformed the map into Springfield, complete with Simpsons characters and items. It ended with the Zero Hour finale event, which closed out Chapter 6 and all of "Phase 1."
Chapter 7

Season 1
Pacific Break
November 29, 2025 – March 19, 2026
A new chapter on the Golden Coast island, themed around the US West Coast and Hollywood, kicked off by the Zero Hour finale event that drew 10.5 million in-game players. It dropped the Battle Bus opening in favor of Storm Surfing, added Wingsuits and self-revives, and launched with the Kill Bill crossover and Quentin Tarantino's animated short.

Season 2
Showdown
March 19, 2026 – June 5, 2026
A rivalry season built around a feud between The Foundation (modeled on Dwayne Johnson) and the returning Ice King, where players picked a side that decided a bonus Battle Pass reward. It added the Skyline Deployer movement item and a Looney Tunes crossover led by Bugs Bunny, and ended with the Shattered live event.

Season 3
Runners
June 6, 2026 – August 19, 2026
The current season as of late June 2026, built around collecting Sprites and extracting them across matches in an extraction-shooter twist, on the remixed "Shattered Coast" map. It is headlined by a cel-shaded "Pen & Ink" John Wick in the Battle Pass and brings back Dr. Slone to the storyline.
